Chef Christopher Dutka is the Culinary Director/Partner for Death of Hospitality, overseeing the culinary vision for 618 Restaurant, Mezcal, Elizabeth's Italian, and Luckies Bar & Grill. With more than 35 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Chef Dutka has built a reputation for blending timeless comfort food with innovative culinary techniques, creating memorable dining experiences that keep guests coming back.
His culinary journey began with a passion inspired by his family's Italian traditions before studying Hospitality Management at Middlesex County College. He went on to train under acclaimed Florida chef Mark Militello, where he developed a style influenced by Mediterranean, Caribbean, and contemporary American cuisine. By just 23 years old, he had become an executive chef, launching a career that has spanned fine dining, catering, and restaurant leadership.
Chef Dutka has earned national recognition throughout his career, including an invitation to cook at the prestigious James Beard House in New York, where he showcased New Jersey's seasonal ingredients in his acclaimed "Jersey Spring Fling" dinner.
Today, Chef Dutka leads the culinary direction for the Death of Hospitality restaurant group, creating menus that honor tradition while embracing creativity. Whether crafting elevated Italian classics, modern Mexican cuisine, or approachable American favorites, his philosophy remains the same: exceptional food should create lasting memories and bring people together.
